Training Sessions

1. Machinery and You: Every day, machinery accidents occur nationwide. In this course, you’ll gain essential tools and practices to respond effectively to such incidents in your area. Learn various equipment and techniques to address challenges posed by machinery accidents. Engage in hands-on activities like ring removal, metal cutting and creative problem-solving. 2. Let's Talk Tactics: Today’s firefighters use a variety of tools that combine modern scientific methods with long-established traditions. Managing this extensive toolkit can be challenging in routine incidents, potentially complicating the handling of common fires. Explore how to have open and honest discussions about tactics and strategies geared towards preserving property and also prioritizing the safety of your personnel. Fred Benzel.
3. Fire Investigations: Learn to identify the area of fire origin based on burn pattern recognition and analysis, identify possible sources of ignition and utilizing the scientific method to process all available information to make a cause determination. Other topics include dealing with fatal and incendiary fires, conducting interviews and documenting the investigation process. Ken Scurto, Independent Forensics.
4. Drug Trends/Hazardous Assessment/Decontamination Response: Learn about clandestine labs, encompassing the popular one-pot lab, as well as recent trends in drug production labs. 5. Intro to Firefighting: Intro to Firefighting is a course designed for the entry level firefighter providing an introduction to basic skills that will enable firefighters to function safely on a fireground. This course is designed to be a hand-off course that can be taught by local instructors. Topics covered will include building construction, fire anatomy and fire behavior, personal protective equipment/SCBA classroom portion and SCBA-search and rescue. Bring PPE and air pack. 6. Wildland Command and Tactics: Exploring the dynamic and evolving landscape of today’s fire scene, this comprehensive overview delves into the swiftly changing world of incident command in Nebraska’s wildland sector, focusing on the dedicated efforts of volunteer firefighters. 7. EMS Workshop Track 1 and Track 2: This course blends lectures with hands-on activities, addressing diverse topics tailored to meet the specific recertification needs of EMS professionals. Track 1 will meet in the morning and track 2 will meet in the afternoon. NEMSA.
